Vardon & Ray, like many great players, began their golf as caddies. The caddy is our symbol to reflect their respect and love for the game of golf. In a sense, the caddy is the keeper of the ideals of the game, a perfect image for Vardon & Ray.
Edward R.G. Ray, known as Ted Ray, standing over six feet tall and weighing 225 pounds, could launch a golf ball 30 yards farther than any man in Britain. He won one British Open Championship along with one U.S. Open Championship. Both Ted Ray and Harry Vardon hailed from the Isle of Jersey off the English coast. They toured and competed in golf together for decades, forming an everlasting friendship.
